Description

The novel is built along its own internal reality and unfolds through numerous characters and narrative levels. At its center is Yasîn – the main character of the novel – who wavers between different identities and life paths, torn between different worlds and not knowing which path to choose. His personality emerges in interaction with the other characters, making him at once a contradictory, almost anti-heroic figure. Much about him remains hidden, unspoken, and full of doubt.

The female characters also carry the narrative in their own way: women who maintain their dignity without submitting to ideological gender roles. Nûrşen, who remains trapped between her love and herself. Helbest, whose life is marked by oppression. Silêman, who confronts the armed forces and thus causes further suffering. Mamoste Mûsa, who continues his path of patriotism despite all difficulties. Balaya, who develops extraordinary strength in the tension between love and exploitation.

Alongside them, we encounter Yılmaz, a left-wing socialist from Anatolia, Simko, who continues to fight for his convictions despite personal setbacks, as well as other characters whose stories intertwine with Yasîn's past and present. Even Tûti, Yasîn's cat, becomes a symbol of connection and solidarity.

With his distinctive language and narrative style, Şener Özmen opens new avenues for the modern Kurdish novel. He breaks through the narrow confines of classical narrative forms and brings new impulses to Kurdish literature with a multifaceted, contemporary language.
