Mem û Zîna Hewramî
Incl. VAT plus shipping
Description
Mem and Zin is considered one of the most significant works of Kurdish literature, both as an epic and a written work. The narrative combines a great love story with a deep literary and cultural tradition that extends far beyond the well-known version by Ehmedê Xanî.
This study by Cumhur Ölmez and Shahab Vali examines the genesis and dissemination of the Mem û Zîn tradition in the collective memory of the Kurds. It shows that the narrative is not only preserved in individual Kurdish varieties but continues to live on in different forms across large parts of the Kurdish linguistic landscape.
A particular focus is placed on a Hewramî version of Mem û Zîn, which is scientifically edited and comprehensively placed within this larger context for the first time.
