Mela Mihemed was in his early twenties when he joined the Hamidiye Regiments. Under the command of Kor Huseyn Paşa Heyderî, he spent several years in the Eledax region. During World War I, he fought against the Russian army on the Milazgirt front. Eventually, his regiment was disbanded, and large parts of the Serhed region, including the Zilan Valley, fell under Russian occupation.
Like many other families of that time, Mela Mihemed was forced to leave his homeland. Together with his family, he moved south. Their escape began in Erdîş and finally ended in Entab.
The special quality of this work lies in its immediate perspective. Almost like a personal diary, Mela Mihemed records a section of Kurdish flight and migration history of those years. He processes his experiences fleeing the Russian army, the uncertainty of the journey, and his personal feelings in poems.
