Description
After numerous disputes, Gula Strîstanka leaves her husband and her two children behind. She sets off from Istanbul and settles in Diyarbakır. At the insistence and with the encouragement of a friend, she begins to write an autobiographical novel. However, she is unable to complete her novel project even halfway through. The unfinished manuscript, which will later be titled Lerz, falls into the hands of the renowned writer Brahîm Aram in Diyarbakır. Aram completes the novel based on what has already been written and has it published under his own name.
This novel, written by two authors and characterized by literary games, offers insights into numerous areas of our society through its diverse narrative perspectives, its polyphony, and its nested narrative structure. It sometimes criticizes and leads us into a discussion of issues such as the abduction, murder, and oppression of women; male dominance, family, and society; the contradictions and divisions between parties and their supporters; religious-national conflicts; the activities of village guards and going to the mountains; reading groups, communities, and the circles of writers.
