When Badê Kurê Dostik, the founder of the Marwanid state, was killed in battle near Mosul, power passed to his nephew Ebû Elî Kurê Merwan. The Marwanid state was named after him. Under the rule of Nasruddewle, Ebû Elî's brother, the ruling house reached its greatest power. The author of this historical novel has made the Marwanid state the subject of his work and attempts to lift the veil over this ruling house.
