Dîwan – Melayê Cizîrî

Melayê Cizîrî is the first poet of the Kurmancî literary tradition whose enchanting verses have survived to this day and remain within our reach.
In his poetry, Mela perceives serenity of the heart and humility born from the defeat of pride.
In the realm of verse, he stands as the elder of poets; the fabric he weaves with his words allows no imitation, and in the literary bazaar, he regards other poets as apprentices at his threshold.

He is the patriarch of Kurdish poetry, whose line “Mele şalifiroş, tu nîşan min mede / Ferxî ku li nik min bûye ferx” shines among the timeless symbols of mystical meaning.
