Description
In Dîroka Navdarên Kurd, Baba Merdûx Rûhanî traces the lives and work of notable Kurdish figures from different parts of the world. Drawing on a wide range of sources, he introduces mystics, scholars, literary figures, poets, writers, princes and politicians.
The author devoted almost half a century to this work. From his youth into old age, he collected and organised historical documents, creating a lasting record of the lives of many Kurdish figures.
The complete work is divided into two parts and comprises three volumes. The first two focus on Kurdish mystics, scholars, literary figures and poets. The third contains biographies of Kurdish princes and the history of Kurdish dynasties.
The first two volumes were published during the author’s lifetime. His son, Macid Merdox, completed the unfinished third volume. Translation into Kurdish began in 2000 at the request of Mam Feqî Huseyn Sağnıç. Mela Reşîd Irgat and Mela Îsmet Kılıçarslan undertook the translation for a planned publication by the Kurdish Institute in Istanbul. After his fellow translator’s death, Mela Reşîd completed the translation of the third volume alone.
Together, the three volumes comprise approximately 1,900 pages, offering a valuable resource for readers and researchers interested in Kurdish history and its notable figures.
