Description

Ein sorgfältig ausgewähltes Werk kurdischer Literatur – kuratiert für Leserinnen und Leser, die Sprache, Geschichte und Kultur vertiefen möchten.

The novel Delala Dînik tells the story of the Komkujiya Geliyê Zîlanê and the fate of young Delal. During the violence, she loses her family and her fiancé. It is only after several nights that she regains consciousness among the bodies of the victims. What she experienced and saw with her own eyes leaves deep scars and throws her out of emotional balance.

After almost nothing is left intact in Geliyê Zîlanê, Delal wanders hungry and thirsty through plains and mountains for days. Finally, she reaches Erdîşê and finds refuge in Helîm Xoce's house. He takes her in, cares for her, and over time becomes like a father to her.

But even there, Delal does not find lasting peace. Several years later, she is brutally murdered by several men.

To this day, her story is recounted in the region as a painful memory. Delala Dînik thus connects a personal fate with the memory of the events of Geliyê Zîlanê and preserves a story of loss, violence, and survival.
