Description

Ein sorgfältig ausgewähltes Werk kurdischer Literatur – kuratiert für Leserinnen und Leser, die Sprache, Geschichte und Kultur vertiefen möchten.

Bîra Qederê is composed of sixteen photographs depicting the lineage of the Kurdish prince Bedir-Xan, beginning with death and moving toward remembrance.
After Celadet Beg’s passing, the photographs that remain continue to speak, telling the story of his life — one that began in hardship but unfolded into a rich and complex journey.

At the dawn of the 20th century, Istanbul, that cosmopolitan city where all peoples and tongues intertwine, becomes the stage for the early chapters of his life.
Later, like many of his compatriots, he becomes exiled, separated from his homeland and condemned to wander.

The Ottoman Palace, Bab-ı Âli, the Galata Bridge, Taksim Hill, the World War, and the journals Hawar and Ronahî, whose voices echoed from Damascus to the four corners of the Kurdish-speaking world — all of these emerge as vivid images within the novel.

The life of Celadet Beg thus becomes a story at once of struggle and knowledge, tragedy and love, loss and perseverance.
